Aguilas Mentoring Program
The Aguilas Mentoring Program (AMP) was established in the Fall of 2008 through the Office of Diversity Programs and Services at George Mason University, Fairfax campus. The Aguilas program was created to provide Latino freshmen, sophomores and transfer students with a strong academic and professional network of upperclassmen and Mason alumni. AMP assists students in transitioning successfully to Mason and to the professional world by fostering leadership and academic excellence through various programs and services. Although Aguilas is oriented towards Latino cultures, we welcome all students.
AMP Objectives
- To support a successful academic and social transition to George Mason University by having mentors serve as a resource for freshman, sophomore, and transfer students.
- To encourage Latino students to maximize their college experience through involvement in curricular and extra-curricular activities at Mason and the surrounding community.
- To develop a strong support network of Latino men, as well as create a sense of unity and community at Mason through mentorship.
