APA Heritage Month Keynote Speaker: Robert Underwood
The Honorable Robert Underwood is a former Member of Congress, Professor Emeritus from the University of Guam, and a distinguished educator. He has served as a classroom teacher, curriculum writer, school administrator, Dean of the College of Education and Vice President of the University of Guam. He served five terms as Guam's Congressional Delegate and was a senior member of both the Armed Services and Resources Committee. Underwood will address the issues of higher education opportunities and responsiveness of higher education community to APA issues.

"Leadership. Career Opportunities, and Asian Pacific American Students"
Mr. Mok is the Chief Financial Officer of the U.S. Department of Labor. He has served in various capacities for numerous community and government organizations in the Washington DC area. He has frequently lectured around the country on diversity issues. He will address the importance of leadership development and career opportunities for Asian Pacific American students.

APA Heritage Month Speaker: John Quoc Duong
"White House Initiatives on Asian Pacific Americans"
Mr. Duong is the Executive Director of the White House Initiative on Asian Pacific Americans. In this capacity, he is charged with coordinating all federal activities under Executive Order 13216, to increase opportunities for and improve the quality of life of over twelve million Asian Pacific Americans. In addition, Mr. Duong works with the White House and the President Advisory Commission on APA needs and concerns.

In movies, Asian Pacific Americans are depicted as mysterious foreigners, spies, martial artists, computer geeks … Through artistic expression such as independent film, Asian Pacific Americans defy those stereotypes. In collaboration with the DC APA Film Festival (www.apafilm.org), Asian Pacific American Coalition (APAC) will host Mini APA Film Festival. There will be a discussion following the screenings of the films.
