"My name is T Carter.  I served as president of the American Indian/Alaskan Native Student Association during the 2006/2007 academic year.  I received my Master’s Degree in American History from George Mason in July 2007. My life’s objective focuses on finding and presenting counter narratives to the “official” version of history—written by the “conqueror.”  I work passionately as a researcher and an activist, seeking social justice and action for Indigenous people of the Americas.  In addition, I am the current president of the newly established Native American Alumni Association, George Mason University.  Our group strives to provide positive mentorship and support for the American Indian/Alaskan Native Student Association."

"I came to Mason as a freshman with the intent of earning a B.A. in history. During my time as an undergraduate I became involved in the planning for American Indian/Alaskan Native Heritage Month, as well as the efforts to revive the former American Indian/Alaskan Native Student Association. I loved my time here at Mason so much that, after finishing my B.A., I went on to apply to GMU's Master program in Folklore. I have remained involved in the American Indian/Alaskan Native Student Association, looking on with excitement and pride as I watch a new group of student leaders step up to the task of bringing Native culture and issues to the attention of the Mason community. In my spare time (ha!) I read and write sci-fi and fantasy, go canoeing along the Potomac, hike at Great Falls Park, and go camping with friends."
