Thursday, November 3
Film: Atanarjuat, the Fast Runner
Atanarjuat is Canada’s first featured-length fiction film written,
produced, directed, and acted by Inuit. An exciting action thriller set
in ancient Igloolik, the film unfolds as a life-threatening struggle
between powerful natural and supernatural characters.

3rd Annual Veteran’s Day Powwow
2p.m - 10:00 p.m.; SUB II Ball Room
Powwow is one of the central events in pan-Indian culture – combining
dance and music. This is Mason’s 3rd annual powwow, and is open to all.
Traditional food and crafts will be available.

Presentation “In the Spirit of Tasunke Witco, Crazy Horse,” by T Carter.

6:00 p.m. ; Johnson Center Room D
Crazy Horse Memorial in the Black Hills of South Dakota honors not only
the great Lakota warrior Tasunke Witco, Crazy Horse, but all indigenous
people. Carter will present
the current objectives of Crazy Horse Memorial, including the Indian
Museum of North America and the Native American Cultural Center. Crazy
Horse offers an important counter narrative—a Native American voice or
perspective to the official version of history. The presentation will
include a film (DVD), a brief talk and an opportunity for questions and
answers.

Monday, November 21
Trail of Tears – Intertribal Dance Troupe’s Annual Toy Drive
3;00p.m – 5:00p.m.; SUB II Room 5, 6, 7
This performance of native dances will be held to support the collection
of new toys for children from birth to age 14 on the Sioux reservation
in South Dakota. The children on this reservation need your help for
Christmas toys. Please come and bring a new toy. You can put a smile
on the faces of these children who have so little.
